Christian Care for Cambodia (CCFC) is a non profit, non-Government organization which aims to assist with development and humanitarian work in Cambodia. In January 1992, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation enabling Christian Care for Cambodia to carry out humanitarian activities and social development for social welfare and public benefit. It was extended a further 3 years in January 2008. Currently, its 32 members come from three different countries, namely Australia, Denmark and the United States of America.
CCFC exists as its members believe in the development of the country of Cambodia and the equal value of all people. Specifically, CCFC is concerned with improving peoples’ lives as individuals and as members of a community. By working in partnership with the community and other Non-Government Organisations, CCFC members seek to empower and build the capacity of Cambodians through providing support, education and training. The work of CCFC is done with respect for Cambodian culture and for basic human rights, and advocates justice for all people, particularly the disadvantaged.
CCFC carries out its development and humanitarian work via two methods. The first method is to establish and the oversee specific development projects. These projects are designed to meet identified needs in the community, targeting economic and social needs (such as education, physical, emotional and spiritual health, employment, vocational skills and income generation, and family support and relationships). These projects are funded by international donations and normally have a CCFC staff member as Project Director who works directly with Cambodian Staff.
Current CCFC projects include:
- an AIDs village, orphanage and community support;
- vocational training for youth aged 16 – 20 years old;
- a centre providing educational support, nutrition and health care to children in poverty;
- a youth programme in partnership with churches and NGOs providing education and sport activities
Secondly, CCFC allows its staff to be seconded directly to other organizations. For example, CCFC members are currently working with organisations such as Cambodia Trust, CSI Mercy Medical Clinic, Hope International School, East-West International School, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Theological Education by Extension, Phnom Penh Bible School and Evangelical Fellowship of Cambodia. In these cases, CCFC members work voluntarily, using their skills to contribute to the development of Cambodia. CCFC projects and seconded staff are located in various parts of Cambodia including Phnom Penh, Mondulkirri, Siem Reap, Kampong Speu and Poipet.
CCFC is completely self-funded by Membership Fees from each of its staff members. In addition to this, each project is self funded by donations from various overseas donors.
CCFC is incorporated in Melbourne, Australia. The head office is located at #73 Street 608 Toul Kork, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The team leader can be contacted on (023) 880 019.
